I’ve been buying Naked Paper (formerly Naked Sprout) for years now, and if you know me at all, you know I have a terrible bladder. It rules my life. Add to that a house full of boys and a huge puppy, and we get through toilet paper and kitchen roll like nobody’s business. So when I tell you I’ve found products I actually want to buy, you can trust I’ve done the research (by which I mean, I use A LOT of both). Read my Naked Paper bamboo toilet paper review below.
I first came across Naked Paper when I was looking for more environmentally friendly options. I’d been feeling increasingly guilty about the amount of toilet paper and kitchen roll our household gets through – and let’s be honest, the idea of cleaning our delicate bits with bleached paper never sat right with me once I actually thought about it.
Why I switched to Naked Paper bamboo toilet paper
The thing that drew me in initially was the environmental aspect. Bamboo instead of trees, no bleaching chemicals, and the packaging is just cardboard boxes with no individual plastic wrapping at all. When the box arrives, you just recycle the cardboard. Simple. The way it should be.
But here’s what’s kept me buying them for years – the rolls genuinely last longer than regular toilet paper. You know those awful service station toilets where you pull the “2-ply” (let’s be honest, it’s 1-ply pretending to be 2-ply) and end up using half a roll? Naked Paper’s bamboo toilet paper isn’t like that. It’s strong, soft, and you actually use less per visit because it doesn’t disintegrate in your hands.
When you’ve got a house full of boys and someone with my bladder situation, that matters.
What I love about Naked Paper
The bamboo toilet rolls are proper quality. Soft but strong. And when you’re someone who genuinely spends a lot of time in the bathroom (bladder life, remember?), that matters. I’m not dealing with rough, scratchy paper or stuff that falls apart when you look at it wrong.
The kitchen roll is equally impressive. We massively upped our kitchen roll use when we got our huge puppy – you can imagine the mess! Naked Paper’s kitchen roll is very strong and absorbent, everything you actually need in kitchen roll really.
Here’s something I learned from their blog (they write really interesting stuff) – they make kitchen roll and toilet roll differently, so don’t just cut your kitchen roll in half if you run out of toilet roll. The construction is different for how each needs to perform. Fascinating, right? Not that I ever run out now with their subscription service.
The subscription service is brilliant
Can we talk about how amazing it is to never have that panicked dash to the shop because you’re out of loo roll? Especially as we don’t even have a shop in our village. The subscription just… works. And if you need to change it and it doesn’t work online, their customer service is amazing. Genuinely helpful people who sort things out quickly.
They’ve thought of everything
Naked Paper now make recycled paper toilet roll too, if you prefer that to bamboo. It’s still not dyed, and it’s all sourced within 85km of their Spanish factory. I’m quite sure they’ve thought of everything.
The packaging is brilliant – minimal waste, all recyclable. The delivery is reliable. And I love their story as a brand. My husband even bought shares in their February 2024 crowdfunding round because we both believe in what they’re doing.
They’re honest about their product too. No greenwashing, no pretending to be something they’re not. Just good quality bamboo toilet paper and kitchen roll that does what it says on the tin.
How does Naked Paper bamboo toilet paper perform?
I can’t write a bamboo toilet paper review without talking about how it performs. The quality holds up brilliantly. It flushes perfectly, doesn’t clog, and breaks down as it should (nobody wants plumbing issues). The softness doesn’t come with that weird slippery coating some “luxury” toilet papers have. It’s just… nice toilet paper. Which is exactly what you want.
The bamboo is genuinely strong – no more using half a roll per visit. And with boys in the house who seem to use toilet paper for everything from actual toilet visits to makeshift tissues to cleaning up random spills, the fact that it’s quality and lasts well matters.
What we use Naked Paper for
Bathroom visits (frequently, thanks bladder and boys). Nose blowing when we’ve got colds. The kitchen roll gets absolutely hammered by puppy-related clean-ups – muddy paws, water bowl splashes, the occasional accident. Emergency spillage cleanup when I can’t be bothered to get proper cloths. You know, normal life with kids and pets.

Look, toilet paper and kitchen roll aren’t glamorous. But they’re things we all use every single day, and switching to Naked Paper means you’re doing something better for the planet without sacrificing quality. Actually, you’re probably getting better quality than whatever you’re using now, plus the convenience of subscription delivery.
If you care about reducing waste, avoiding unnecessary chemicals, and supporting a British brand with a proper mission (even if their factory is in Spain – sourcing locally to that factory), give them a try. My bladder, my boys, and my puppy all recommend them.
